Help Save the Pine Barrens

From our good friend Meg Sheehan:

End the Destruction! End Deforestation! End the Desecration of Indigenous History! End the Threats to Our Drinking Water!

Led by The Community Land and Water Coalition we will rally to Stop Sand Mining and Deforestation in Southeastern Massachusetts! – Join us, Turnout Matters!

Date: Saturday, July 22, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Location: Outside Wareham Town Hall, 54 Marion Road, Wareham, Mass

To Do: Bring signs, friends and family for an exciting event! After the rally, we will march to downtown Wareham with our message!

Over the last 25 years, southeastern Massachusetts has lost thousands of acres of pristine wilderness and millions of cubic yards of silica sand to the sand mining industry, destroying a landscape that is unique on this continent.

Sand mining is largely unregulated, and threatens our forests, our air, our drinking water, our health and our welfare.

Additionally, southeastern Massachusetts has been home to Indigenous people since time immemorial, and their cultural history is erased with every bulldozer of sand. We refuse to let our towns be used as the sand pit of Massachusetts any longer! Come join us!
